Why We Give Away One Puppy from Each Litter for Free
At Cavadore Service Retrievers, we believe in making a real difference in people’s lives. That’s why from every litter we breed, we reserve one special puppy to place for free with someone who truly needs a service, therapy, or emotional support dog prospect.
We understand that not everyone can afford the cost of a purpose-bred service dog, but the need is great. By offering a puppy at no cost, we hope to help someone gain access to a loving, trainable companion who can improve their quality of life.
This is more than just giving away a puppy — it’s about building a partnership with families and individuals who are committed to training and caring for a dog that will have a meaningful role in their lives. We carefully select recipients based on need, lifestyle, and ability to provide a stable home.
Our goal is to ensure these special puppies get the best start possible and go to homes where they will be valued and supported as they grow into incredible service and support dogs.
Guardian Home Program
If you’re not selected to receive a free puppy from our litter, don’t worry — we offer a Guardian Home Program that provides another way to be part of the Cavadore family!
In this program, you care for and raise a Cavadore puppy in your home while we retain ownership. You get to enjoy all the love and companionship of a Cavadore dog, and in return, the dog will come back to us for breeding or training as needed.
This program helps us keep our dogs in loving homes and ensures that our breeding program continues with dogs raised in real family environments. It’s a wonderful opportunity to have a well-bred, trained dog without the full cost of ownership.
Applicants who apply for a free puppy but are not selected will be offered a place in our Guardian Home Program—if found to be a good fit and as availability allows.
